It’s that time of year again when parents suddenly realize that summer is approaching quickly and they have to start thinking about what kind of activities they want to get their children involved in over summer. That means it’s time to consider Optimus!

Our summer program has seen tremendous growth in the past few years thanks to the hard work and dedication of our teachers who bring so much fun into the educational learning experiences they plan for students. In the morning, students work on their core academics with Math Club, Book Club, and Writing Club classes. Students enjoy lunch at the park where they can eat on the grass and then play on the playground. After lunchtime, we combine classes for some fun with Science, Presentation, and Cooking classes. Students have a chance to relax and work on their summer homework during the afternoon hours. Each week’s activities are centered around the theme for that week.

Curious about some of the activities we’ve done in the past? We’ve gone on a virtual field trip to colonial America and made our own hand-dipped candles and Colonial Corn Chowder. We’ve explored how natural disasters can affect different types of building foundations and what we would need to do in a variety of emergency situations. We’ve worked through the multiple steps of the animation process and created our own storyboards. We’ve studied different animals, real and mythical, and held our own virtual animal Olympics. We’ve created some pretty amazing cave paintings and learned about the methods prehistoric men and women used to hunt, cook, and preserve their food.
